Odisha Pro T20 League 2025 Ignites Cricket Fever with Grand Opening at Barabati Stadium
Cuttack, — The Barabati Stadium roared to life as the Odisha Pro T20 League 2025 (OPTL) kicked off with a dazzling opening ceremony that blended cricketing spirit with cultural vibrance.
Hosted by the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA), the event was inaugurated by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who unveiled the league trophy and declared the tournament officially open.
“This is not just a league; it is a celebration of cricketing excellence,” Majhi declared, commending OCA’s efforts in bringing international-level cricket to Odisha.
The evening featured electrifying performances by Ruturaj Mohanty, Rapper Pratik, Nakash Aziz, and a special act by Chitrangada Singh, alongside traditional Sambalpuri and Malkhamb dances.
Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan was introduced as the league’s Brand Ambassador, promising to mentor young talent and elevate Odisha’s cricketing profile.
The inaugural match saw the Cuttack Panthers face off against the Bhubaneswar Tigers, with the Panthers opting to bowl first after winning the toss. A ceremonial bell-ringing marked the start, with dignitaries including OCA Secretary Sanjay Behera and Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh in attendance.
In a touching gesture, the OCA donated Rs 5,00,000 to Adruta Children Homes in honour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, reinforcing the league’s commitment to social responsibility.
With six regional teams and a packed schedule ahead, OPTL 2025 promises to be a thrilling showcase of emerging cricket talent and regional pride.
