Odisha Police SWR Invites Applications for 113 Special Police Officer Posts
Koraput: The South Western Range (SWR) of Odisha Police has launched a recruitment drive for 113 Special Police Officer (SPO) posts, offering an opportunity for retired police personnel to rejoin the force on a contractual basis.
The vacancies are open to retired Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), Sub-Inspectors (SIs), and Inspectors with an unblemished service record.
According to the notification, the recruitment aims to strengthen policing and law enforcement capabilities across several districts under the South Western Range.
The vacancies have been distributed across Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, and Nuapada districts.
Eligible candidates must be permanent residents of Odisha, possess proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking Odia, and should not exceed 65 years of age as of the date of the advertisement.
Applicants must also have a clean service record with no criminal cases, convictions, or disciplinary proceedings against them.
The district-wise vacancy distribution includes 24 posts in Rayagada, 22 in Koraput, 20 in Malkangiri, 18 in Kalahandi, 16 in Nabarangpur, and 13 in Nuapada, bringing the total number of SPO vacancies to 113.
Applications must be submitted to the office of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, South Western Range, Koraput, by 5:30 PM on October 15, 2026.
Authorities have clarified that incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
The selection process is scheduled for October 28, 2026, at the Reserve Police Ground, Koraput. Candidates will be required to undertake a physical fitness test, including a 5-kilometre run to be completed within one hour.
Those failing to meet the physical fitness requirement will be disqualified.
Selected candidates will be appointed as Special Police Officers on a one-year contractual basis and will receive remuneration as per the guidelines of the Odisha Finance Department.
They will also be required to wear the prescribed police uniform and insignia during service.
The recruitment drive is expected to leverage the experience of retired police personnel while addressing operational requirements in the South Western Range districts.
