Odisha Police Seeks CRPF, BSF Help to Trace Looted Naxal Weapons

Bhubaneswar: The Special Intelligence Wing (SIW) of Odisha Police has formally written to the Inspector Generals of CRPF and BSF in Odisha, seeking assistance in tracing 29 firearms looted by Naxals in Malkangiri district during violent incidents in 1992 and 2001.

According to reports, the weapons were stolen from the OSAP 2nd Battalion (Jharsuguda) and OSAP 3rd Battalion (Koraput) during Left Wing Extremist (LWE) activities.

The SIW has urged the paramilitary forces to verify arms recovered during anti-Naxal operations and encounters over the years.

The move aims to identify whether any of the recovered weapons match the looted ones, enabling Odisha Police to reclaim and track them.

Officials believe this step will strengthen accountability and bolster the fight against extremist groups in the state.
