Odisha Orders Secretaries to Undertake Field Visits by October 2026
Bhubaneswar: In a major push to strengthen governance and accountability, Odisha’s Development Commissioner‑cum‑Additional Chief Secretary, Deoranjan Kumar Singh, has directed all Secretaries and senior officers to undertake mandatory field visits to their allotted districts by October 2026.
The directive mandates 2–3 day trips, including at least one overnight stay, to review the implementation of state and centrally sponsored schemes, assess public service delivery, and monitor infrastructure projects.
Officers have been instructed to:
- Inspect District Headquarters Hospitals, PHCs, and CHCs, ensuring medicine availability, staff presence, and fire safety compliance.
- Visit inaccessible and tribal‑dominated areas, with special focus on PVTG schemes.
- Review at least one Gram Panchayat to evaluate saturation of development schemes and basic facilities.
- Monitor rural water supply projects and ensure timely completion of Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs).
A total of 30 IAS officers have been assigned responsibility for 30 districts, ensuring statewide coverage.
The move is expected to improve transparency, enhance service delivery, and bring governance closer to citizens.
