Odisha Makes Kapas Kisan Registration Mandatory for MSP Cotton Procurement

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has made registration on the Kapas Kisan mobile application compulsory for cotton farmers who wish to sell their produce at the Minimum Support Price (MSP), according to the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment.

The move aims to streamline the cotton procurement process and ensure that eligible growers receive MSP benefits.

As per the government directive, the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) will procure cotton at MSP only from farmers who have successfully completed registration through the Kapas Kisan platform.

Farmers have been advised to complete the registration process before the deadline of October 31.

To register, farmers are required to furnish their Farmer Registration ID, a cotton cultivation certificate issued by the Village Agriculture Worker (VAW) or Agriculture Overseer (AO), Aadhaar-linked bank account details, and a copy of the Aadhaar card used during registration.

The government has urged cotton growers across the state to complete the registration process in time to avoid any inconvenience during procurement.

Farmers can seek assistance from nearby CCI cotton procurement centres, Village Agriculture Workers, or Krushak Sathis for registration-related support.

For further guidance, the authorities have also provided dedicated helpline numbers, 6370011920 and 155333, to address farmers’ queries regarding registration and procurement procedures.

The initiative is expected to facilitate transparent procurement and ensure that MSP benefits reach genuine cotton cultivators across Odisha.
