Odisha Integrates PM-Surya Ghar with PMAY for Affordable Solar Power
Odisha Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo has announced the integration of the PM-Surya Ghar rooftop solar scheme with the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (PMAY) housing program.
The initiative aims to provide clean, affordable, and uninterrupted electricity to every housing beneficiary while reducing household expenses.
Under the scheme, beneficiaries will receive a Rs 30,000 subsidy from the Centre and Rs 25,000 from the State, making the cost of a 1 KW rooftop solar installation just Rs 1,875 in urban areas.
Singh Deo also reviewed safety measures in the power sector, including underground cabling projects worth Rs 3,708 crore, shifting low-hanging wires, installing insulated conductors, fencing substations, and launching a utility shifting portal for better monitoring.
Additionally, he assessed the implementation of PM-SGMBY and the ULA Model for electrification, covering poles, wiring, and street lights.
The government reiterated its commitment to delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable power to every household in Odisha through coordinated departmental execution.
