Odisha H&UD Minister Explores CIDCO’s Affordable Housing Models in Navi Mumbai

Odisha Housing & Urban Development Minister Dr Krushna Chandra Mahapatra visited CIDCO’s affordable housing projects in Navi Mumbai under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Urban (PMAY‑U).

The visit highlighted CIDCO’s adoption of modern construction technologies such as precast concrete, factory‑made components, mechanised systems, and aluminium formwork to deliver large‑scale housing for economically weaker sections (EWS) and low‑income groups (LIG).

The projects also showcased sustainable township planning with features like stormwater drainage, rainwater harvesting, energy‑efficient lighting, landscaped open spaces, and solid‑waste management.

A key emphasis was transit‑oriented development (TOD), integrating housing with metro corridors, suburban railways, bus networks, and major roads to enhance accessibility.

Dr Mahapatra praised CIDCO’s systematic approach and expressed interest in adopting similar precast and modular systems in Odisha’s upcoming housing initiatives.

He also discussed potential technical collaboration with CIDCO to strengthen Odisha’s citizen‑centric, technology‑driven housing programmes.

The visit was attended by CIDCO engineers, Tata Consulting Engineers (PMC), Larsen & Toubro, and other technical experts.

The insights gained are expected to inform Odisha’s future housing projects, ensuring sustainability, efficiency, and inclusivity.
