Odisha Govt Signs MoU with Utkalika for Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana

Bhubaneswar: The Women and Child Development Department of Odisha has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Utkalika, the Odisha State Cooperative Handicrafts Corporation, to supply gift items under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana.

The agreement was formalised in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister and Women & Child Development Minister Pravati Parida at the departmental conference hall.

Under this collaboration, Utkalika will provide eligible brides with traditional adornments such as sarees, bangles, anklets, toe rings, alta, and sindoor, along with household essentials including utensils and cushions.

Deputy CM Parida highlighted that the initiative not only ensures welfare benefits for every eligible beneficiary but also promotes Odisha’s rich handloom and handicraft sector.

She emphasised that the scheme combines social welfare with cultural promotion, strengthening both community support and local artisans.

The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials, including Principal Secretary Shubha Sharma, Director Monisha Banerjee, Handloom & Handicrafts Director Nibedita Prusty, and Additional Secretary Pratap Hota.

The MoU was formally signed between Additional Secretary Sumitra Pattnayak of the Women & Child Development Department and Utkalika Managing Director Mamata Nayak.
