Odisha Govt Launches Strict Drive to Recover Land Revenue, Water Cess

The Odisha government has launched a strict recovery drive to collect pending land revenue and irrigation water cess as the financial year 2025–26 nears its end.

The Finance Department has set ambitious targets of Rs 980 crore from land revenue and Rs 25.32 crore from water cess, underscoring the importance of non-tax revenue in strengthening the state’s fiscal health.

Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue and Disaster Management, Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee, has directed all District Collectors to expedite collections.

Revenue Divisional Commissioners will conduct weekly reviews to monitor progress and ensure accountability.

District Collectors have been instructed to remain vigilant, adopt proactive measures, and report regularly to meet the targets.

The directive highlights Odisha’s focus on fiscal discipline, timely realisation of dues, and reinforcing financial resilience.

This administrative push reflects the government’s determination to meet budgeted targets and bolster internal revenue sources, ensuring stronger financial stability for the state.
