Odisha Govt Approves 1,726 Technical Posts to Strengthen Healthcare

Bhubaneswar: In a landmark move to improve public healthcare delivery, the Odisha Health Department has sanctioned 1,726 new technical posts across government facilities.

The decision, cleared by the Finance Department, is expected to address staff shortages and enhance patient services statewide.

The approved positions include 1,108 Pharmacist Officers, 238 Ophthalmic Officers, and 380 Medical Lab Technicians.

These roles will streamline medicine supply chains, expand eye‑care services, and strengthen diagnostic capacity.

Health Minister Dr Mukesh Mahaling emphasised that under Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s leadership, the government is committed to ensuring smooth healthcare delivery through transparent, merit‑based recruitment.

Officials believe the expansion will reduce patient waiting times, improve medicine availability, and ensure reliable laboratory testing, particularly in rural and tribal areas.

The initiative marks a decisive step toward building a responsive, patient‑friendly health system in Odisha.
