Odisha Government Issues Draft Reservation List for 35 ULB Chairperson Posts Ahead of Civic Polls
The Odisha Government has released a draft notification reserving Chairperson posts in 35 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across the state.
The Housing and Urban Development Department issued the list under the provisions of the Odisha Municipal Act, 1950 and related election rules.
The draft outlines category‑wise reservations for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), women, and unreserved seats.
Citizens have been invited to submit objections or suggestions within 15 days of publication in the Odisha Gazette to the Director, Municipal Administration.
Key Reservation Details
- SC Women: 11 NACs including Patrapur, Salepur, Bissamcuttack, Jagannathprasad, Tihidi, Sohela, Birmaharajpur, Narasinghpur, Narla, Simulia, Badamba.
- SC Category: Loisingha, Dhusuri, Palalahada, Jashipur, Basta, Tangi, Chatrapur Municipality.
- ST Women: Chitrada, Bangriposi, Kaptipada, Betanati, Bamra, Rengali.
- ST Category: Borigumma, Rasagobindapur, Gondia, Jayapatana.
- Women (General): Chandikhol NAC, Boudhagada Municipality, Asika Municipality, Bhanjanagar Municipality.
- Unreserved: Polasara Municipality, Odagaon NAC.
This rotational reservation exercise is a mandatory step before every ULB election to ensure equitable representation of SCs, STs, and women.
The final list will be notified after reviewing public feedback, marking a significant step toward the long‑awaited civic polls in Odisha.
