Odisha Floods: 383 Schools Shut in Bhadrak & Jajpur
Authorities in Odisha have ordered the closure of 383 schools across Jajpur and Bhadrak districts as floodwaters continue to rise.
In Jajpur, the Collector directed 244 schools in eight blocks — Bari, Dasarathpur, Binjharpur, Rasulpur, Korei, Dharmasala, Jajpur, and Badachana — to remain shut.
Similarly, Bhadrak district officials closed 139 schools across four blocks: Bhadrak, Tihidi, Dhamnagar, and Chandbali.
Additionally, 225 Anganwadi centres in Bhadrak, including those in Basudevpur block, have been closed.
The move is a precautionary measure to safeguard children and staff amid waterlogging and flood risks.
Officials emphasised that the closures are temporary and will be reviewed as the situation evolves.
