Odisha Extends Kharif Paddy Procurement Period by Seven Days, Benefits 18.64 Lakh Farmers

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has extended the Kharif paddy procurement period by seven days to safeguard farmers’ interests.

The decision ensures that no registered farmer’s procurement token lapses, allowing them to sell their produce without disruption.

According to official data, the state has procured 77 lakh metric tonnes of paddy during the current Kharif season.

Around 18.64 lakh farmers have successfully sold their harvest, with payments amounting to Rs 22,884 crore transferred directly into their bank accounts.

Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra stated that the extension was aimed at protecting farmers and ensuring smooth completion of the procurement process.
