Odisha Excise seized contraband worth Rs.1.53 crore on 16th day of special drive

Bhubaneswar, Sep 17 (UNI) On the 16th day of its statewide enforcement drive, Odisha Excise officials seized contraband worth Rs 1.53 crore during raids across various districts.
According to officials, 219 cases were detected in a single day, on Tuesday, leading to the arrest of 132 persons.

The raids resulted in the seizure of 8,289 bulk litres of illicitly distilled liquor and 442 bulk litres of duty-paid liquor, while 94,380 litres of wash intended for distillation were destroyed.

Additionally, 1,226 kg of Mohua flowers were confiscated, and nine vehicles were impounded for their involvement in the illegal trade.

The enforcement teams also registered 10 cases under the NDPS Act, recovering 14 kg of ganja and 786 grams of heroin in separate operations.

In Balasore district, officials achieved one of the most significant breakthroughs of the drive, booking three NDPS cases, seizing 455 grams of brown sugar, and arresting three persons.
