Odisha CM to Visit Flood‑Hit Bhadrak and Jajpur on August 17

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will visit Bhadrak and Jajpur districts on Monday, August 17, to assess the situation in flood‑affected areas.

The visit follows heavy rainfall triggered by a low‑pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, which has caused severe waterlogging and displacement of residents.

The CM is expected to review relief camps, interact with affected families, and evaluate ongoing rescue and restoration operations led by district administrations, ODRAF, NDRF, and other agencies.

A high‑level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg has already directed intensified monitoring and response in the worst‑hit regions.

Authorities have issued a red warning for both districts, urging residents to remain cautious.

Relief kits are being dispatched by the government and voluntary organisations, while educational institutions such as Utkal University have postponed examinations due to the floods.

Majhi’s visit is seen as a crucial step to ensure coordinated relief measures and to reassure communities grappling with the impact of the floods.
