Odisha CM Majhi Meets Vedanta Chairman to Fast‑Track Mega Industrial Projects

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi held a high‑level meeting with Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal to accelerate industrial projects worth over Rs 1 lakh crore.

The ambitious plan positions Odisha as the world’s largest aluminium production hub, with major investments including a 60 lakh tonne alumina refinery in Rayagada, a 30 lakh tonne aluminium smelter in Dhenkanal, and a 6000 MW power project.

The government has already allocated land and advanced infrastructure, while a new coal block is set to become operational this year.

Rail connectivity near the upcoming bauxite mine has also been approved, with construction expected to begin soon.

These projects are expected to generate lakhs of jobs, boost MSMEs, and contribute significantly to Odisha’s vision of becoming a $500 billion economy by 2036.

Vedanta’s chairman expressed confidence in Odisha’s transformation, highlighting opportunities for aerospace, EV, and defence manufacturing through the proposed downstream aluminium park.

The CM assured regular reviews every 15 days to ensure timely progress, marking a new chapter of rapid industrialisation in central and southern Odisha.
