Odisha CM Chief cleans Puri’s Bada Danda before Rath Yatra

Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), July 6: Ahead of the renowned Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath and his siblings, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi spearheaded a cleanliness campaign on Saturday along Puri’s Bada Danda, the main avenue leading to the ancient shrine.
Equipped with a broom, the Chief Minister actively participated in sweeping and cleaning the grand road, supported by Deputy CMs K V Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, along with several Ministers, MLAs, and other leaders.
Highlighting the significance of cleanliness as a sacred duty, Chief Minister Majhi emphasized that the state government initiated the drive to ensure Bada Danda remains pristine for the upcoming Rath Yatra festival. During this festival, the deities embark on a nine-day journey to Gundicha Temple.
The campaign aims to raise awareness among the populace regarding the importance of cleanliness, especially as Puri anticipates a large influx of pilgrims from across India and abroad for the Rath Yatra festivities.
The drive extended from Bada Danda near Singhadwara to Saradha Bali near Gundicha Temple, with the enthusiastic participation of various leaders and officials.
