Odisha Census 2026 to Begin in April | Digital Registration Option Announced
The Directorate of Census Operations has announced that the first phase of the Odisha Census will commence in April 2026.
Census Director Nikhil Pawan Kalyan shared the details following a meeting of the State-Level Census Coordination Committee.
In the initial phase, officials will focus on listing households and recording assets across the state.
The second phase, scheduled for February 2027, will involve door-to-door enumeration of individuals, ensuring comprehensive coverage of Odisha’s population.
To streamline the process, lakhs of census officers will be appointed. Citizens will also have the option to register their information directly on the official census website, making the exercise more accessible and transparent.
Authorities emphasised that accurate household and population records are vital for resource allocation, welfare schemes, and infrastructure development.
The census will provide crucial data to guide Odisha’s planning and growth in the coming years.
