Odisha Braces for Rain, Thunderstorms and Gusty Winds Till October 18

Bhubaneswar: Several districts across Odisha are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty surface winds over the coming days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting wet weather conditions until October 18.

According to the weather advisory, a yellow warning has been issued for multiple districts as atmospheric conditions remain conducive to showers and thunderstorm activity.

The IMD has warned of isolated thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and wind speeds reaching 30-40 kmph in parts of the state.

Coastal, central, and southern districts are expected to be affected by the weather system, prompting authorities to advise residents to exercise caution during outdoor activities.

Districts likely to experience adverse weather include Khordha, Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Dhenkanal, Angul, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar.

While heavy rainfall is not anticipated, intermittent showers and gusty winds may impact daily life and festive activities in several regions.

Weather experts have advised people to remain alert during thunderstorm and lightning events and to avoid taking shelter under trees or near vulnerable structures during adverse weather conditions.

Temperature levels are expected to remain relatively stable despite the cloudy conditions.

Bhubaneswar is likely to record a maximum temperature of around 33 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 24 degrees Celsius during the forecast period.

The IMD continues to monitor the evolving weather situation and has urged citizens to stay updated with official forecasts and warnings as the state experiences an active spell of monsoon-like weather in mid-October.
