Odisha Assembly Monsoon Session to Begin Sept 22

The Odisha Legislative Assembly has announced that its Monsoon Session, the seventh of the 17th Assembly, will convene from September 22 to October 3, 2026.

The session will focus on critical issues including the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill (MMDR), the state’s flood situation, and reported errors in school textbooks.

Government business will be taken up on September 22–24, September 28–30, October 1, and October 3. Private members’ business, including bills and resolutions, is scheduled for September 25.

The Assembly will remain closed on September 26–27 for the weekend and on October 2 for Gandhi Jayanti.

Opposition parties are expected to raise concerns over law and order, farmers’ distress, and governance challenges.

They had earlier demanded a special session to debate the MMDR Bill, but the government maintained that all major issues would be addressed during the regular Monsoon Session.

This session is anticipated to be a platform for intense debate, with both ruling and opposition parties preparing to highlight their priorities.
