Odia Music Maestro Abhijit Majumdar No More, Industry in Mourning

Bhubaneswar, Jan 25: The Odia music industry is mourning the loss of celebrated composer Abhijit Majumdar, who passed away at AIIMS Bhubaneswar after a prolonged battle with multiple health complications.

Majumdar was admitted to the hospital on September 4, 2025, in critical condition and placed on ventilator support. He was treated for high blood pressure and chronic liver disease, among other complications.

Though his health showed signs of improvement in late December, doctors’ hopes of discharging him were dashed as his condition deteriorated in January.

Widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in Odia cinema and independent music, Majumdar’s compositions were known for their emotional depth and contemporary appeal.

His work enriched countless films and albums, leaving an indelible mark on the cultural landscape of Odisha.
