No DJs, No Crackers: Strict Ganesh Puja Rules in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Authorities have issued strict guidelines for Ganesh Puja celebrations this year to ensure safety, discipline, and smooth traffic management.

DJs and crackers have been completely banned, while only traditional music and slow‑sound microphones will be permitted. Cultural programmes and melodies must conclude by 10:00 pm.

Idol immersion will take place on September 16, 18, and 20 at designated temporary ponds including Lingipur, Palasuni, Hanspal, Basuaghai, KIST Canal, Chandaka, and Kusabhadra river site.

Organisers must avoid peak traffic hours (9–11 am, 5:30–8 pm) and national highways during processions. Jatni jurisdiction will have a separate immersion date on September 26.

So far, 340 applications have been received, with around 420 medhas expected—380 in Bhubaneswar and 40 under Jatni PS.

To maintain law and order, police will deploy 4 Additional DCsP, 10 ACPs, 32 Inspectors, 100 SI/ASIs, 20 women constables, 30 platoons of force, and one ODRAF team across puja venues, procession routes, and immersion ghats.

Authorities have appealed to organisers and devotees to strictly follow the guidelines for a peaceful and incident‑free celebration.
