Naveen Patnaik Targets BJP Govt, Calls for Grassroots Mobilisation During Jan Sampark Padayatra

Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led government during the party’s Jan Sampark Padayatra in North Bhubaneswar, alleging that the “double-engine” administration has failed to meet public expectations and damaged Odisha’s reputation.

Addressing a massive gathering of party workers and supporters, Naveen Patnaik claimed that the BJD’s 24-year tenure had transformed Odisha into a model state through welfare-oriented governance and inclusive development.

He contrasted this with the performance of the current BJP government, which he described as ineffective and disconnected from people’s concerns.

The former Chief Minister urged party workers to intensify grassroots outreach and engage directly with citizens.

He called upon BJD cadres to visit households across Odisha and inform people about what he termed the shortcomings and anti-people policies of the present government.

The event, held as part of the ongoing Jan Sampark Padayatra, coincided with the birth anniversary of Gopabandhu Das.

Naveen Patnaik paid floral tributes to both Gopabandhu Das and legendary leader Biju Patnaik before addressing the gathering.

Several senior BJD leaders attended the programme and echoed the party’s criticism of the BJP government while emphasising the need to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level.

The Jan Sampark Padayatra, which commenced on Gandhi Jayanti, is being conducted across Odisha as part of the BJD’s efforts to reconnect with voters, highlight local issues, and expand its base ahead of future electoral battles.

The rally in Bhubaneswar showcased the party’s renewed focus on grassroots mobilisation, with Naveen Patnaik urging workers to take the BJD’s message directly to the people and remain united in challenging the BJP government’s policies.
