Bhubaneswar, (Orissa oday), July 9: A young woman was discovered dead in puzzling circumstances inside a residence in Bhubaneswar on Monday evening. According to reports, the deceased, originally from Uttar Pradesh, was found hanging in a house located in Sriram Nagar slum under Mancheswar police station. She was employed as a caretaker for the homeowner’s child.
Sources indicated that the woman with whom the girl resided had locked the house from the outside, fearing the girl might elope with her lover. Later, upon finding the door locked from within, she discovered the girl’s body hanging from a ceiling fan.
Upon notification, Mancheswar police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation with the assistance of forensic experts. The circumstances surrounding the incident—whether it was a suicide or homicide—are yet to be determined, particularly given the exterior locking of the house.
