Murder Suspected After Villager’s Body Recovered in Balangir
A shocking incident has surfaced in Chitramunda village of Balangir district, where the body of 40‑year‑old Janaki Sahu was discovered in an abandoned well on her farmland late Saturday night.
According to reports, Janaki had left home in the morning but failed to return. Concerned villagers launched a search and eventually found her body around 9:30 PM.
Muribahal police officials, along with Kantabanji SDPO Laxminarayan Marandi, reached the spot and initiated an investigation.
A dog squad was deployed before the body was retrieved for further examination.
Janaki is survived by her husband, Kishore Sahu, who has been working abroad for the past four years, and three children.
Local residents suspect foul play, alleging that she may have been murdered and dumped in the well.
Police have assured that all angles, including homicide, are being thoroughly investigated.
