Malkangiri Police Bust Maoist Arms Cache Near Border

Malkangiri police unearthed a Maoist arms dump near the Odisha–Chhattisgarh border during a combing operation in Mathili police limits.

Acting on inputs from surrendered Maoists, security forces recovered three country‑made guns, six improvised explosive devices (IEDs), two claymore mines, and a cache of uniforms, banners, radio antennas, batteries, wires, knives, torches, and daily‑use items.

Officials suspect the cache belonged to cadres of the Andhra‑Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC) and was intended for attacks on security forces and civilians.

This marks the fourth major recovery in recent months, following three similar seizures in June.

Malkangiri was declared Maoist‑free on March 31, 2026, with two arrests and 23 surrenders between January 2025 and March 2026.

Security forces continue combing operations to dismantle Maoist networks and prevent resurgence in the border region.
