Maa Biraja’s 9-Day Rath Yatra Begins in Jajpur Amid Fervent Devotion
The annual Rath Yatra of Maa Biraja, one of Odisha’s most revered Shakti shrines, commenced in Jajpur with religious fervour and enthusiastic participation from devotees on Sunday.
The nine-day festival began with a series of traditional rituals performed at the temple premises.
Following the ceremonial worship and consecration rites, the idol of Maa Biraja was taken out of the sanctum and placed on the sacred Singhadhwaja Rath, marking the formal beginning of the yatra.
The chariot procession started from the temple’s Singhadwara after the completion of customary religious ceremonies.
Devotees from different parts of the district and neighbouring areas gathered in large numbers to witness the occasion and pull the chariot, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere across the temple town.
According to local religious beliefs, darshan of Maa Biraja while she is seated on the chariot is considered highly auspicious and is believed to bring blessings and spiritual merit to devotees.
To manage the large influx of pilgrims, temple authorities and the district administration have put in place extensive arrangements, including crowd management and security measures, ensuring the festival proceeds smoothly and peacefully.
The Rath Yatra, a major religious event in Jajpur, is expected to continue for nine days, with various rituals and celebrations attracting thousands of devotees throughout the festival period.
