Low-Pressure System Forms Over Bay of Bengal, IMD Warns of Intensification
(OT Webdesk)The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported the formation of a low-pressure area over the west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal, off the coasts of north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha.
The system emerged at 5:30 AM IST on August 13, 2025, influenced by an upper-air cyclonic circulation.
According to IMD forecasts, the system is expected to intensify into a well-marked low-pressure area within 24 hours.
It is likely to move west-northwestwards and cross the north coastal Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha regions over the next 48 hours.
Authorities and residents in the affected areas are advised to stay alert for potential weather disruptions, including heavy rainfall and gusty winds.
