Loco Pilot of a Goods Train averts a major mishap

Bhubaneswar, Mar 10 : The loco pilot of a Goods train on Monday averted a major mishap by promptly applying the emergency brake, bringing the train to a halt.
Sources from East Coast Railway (ECoR) reported that the incident occurred between Sikarpai and Balumaska stations near Kanjamjodi on the Koraput-Rayagada line. An ambulance, unauthorizedly crossing the railway track, was struck by the goods train.
The alert loco pilot immediately applied the emergency brake, preventing a more severe accident.
Fortunately, all patients and the driver had already evacuated the ambulance before the collision, and no injuries were reported, railway officials said.
ECoR stated that the area had been securely fenced on November 3, 2024, but the fencing was illegally removed by villagers, leading to this unauthorized trespassing.
The Railways have taken serious note of the incident and have filed a case against the violators.
Trespassing on railway tracks is a serious offense that poses grave risks to life and safety. The Railways urge the public to strictly adhere to safety regulations and avoid unauthorized crossings to prevent such incidents in the future.(UNI)
