Kendrapada Collector Suspends Two PEOs Over Flood Relief Negligence
Kendrapada: In a decisive move to enforce accountability, the District Collector and Magistrate of Kendrapada has suspended two Panchayat Executive Officers (PEOs) of Rajkanika Block for negligence during flood relief operations.
The officers, Kashiray Majhi (Rajkanika Block) and Dasa Murmu (Bharigada Gram Panchayat), were charged with misconduct, unauthorised absence, insubordination, and misappropriation of Old Age Pension (OAP) funds.
The suspension order cites serious irregularities in government duty, particularly during critical flood rescue efforts.
The action was taken under Rule‑12(1) of the Odisha Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1962, pending departmental proceedings.
Both officers have been directed to remain at the Panchayat Samiti Office, Garadpur, and cannot leave headquarters without prior permission from the BDO.
During suspension, they will receive subsistence allowance as per Rule‑90 of the Odisha Service Code.
The move underscores the administration’s zero‑tolerance stance toward negligence in disaster management and financial irregularities.
