Flood Relief Efforts Shut 66 Schools in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Flood restoration efforts have prompted temporary school closures in two Odisha districts.

Authorities in Jajpur ordered the suspension of classes in 58 schools across Dasarathpur and Binjharpur blocks on August 29, while Bhadrak district closed 8 schools in four panchayats under Chandbali block.

Officials cited waterlogging and ongoing relief operations as the primary reasons, stressing that the closures are precautionary measures to ensure student safety.

Schools where classes are suspended will remain open as rescue and rehabilitation centres if required.

In total, 66 schools have been affected across the two districts, while other institutions in unaffected areas continue to function normally.
