Kataka UPD Cracks Down: ₹1.95 Lakh in Fines

Kataka Urban Police District (UPD), under the Bhubaneswar–Cuttack Commissionerate Police, intensified its enforcement drive against traffic violations and substance abuse.

During the operation, police detected 8 cases of drunken driving and verified 183 vehicles.

A total of Rs 1,95,000 in fines was imposed, alongside Rs 21,000 collected under the Odisha Urban Police Act.

The drive also targeted other violations: 4 persons were booked under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 1 excise case was registered, and 1 non‑bailable warrant (NBW) was executed.

Officials emphasised that such drives are part of ongoing efforts to ensure road safety, curb substance abuse, and strengthen urban policing compliance across Cuttack.
