Kashipur Fever Outbreak in Odisha: Two Children Dead, Villagers Blame Quack
Rayagada, Odisha: Panic has gripped Yubapadar village in Kashipur block after a mysterious fever outbreak left more than 20 people ill and claimed the lives of two children.
Seven‑year‑old Shiba Majhi and Pinku Pujari died on Saturday, with villagers alleging that both succumbed after receiving injections from a local quack.
The fever has persisted in the area for over a week, forcing residents to depend on private clinics due to a shortage of doctors at Dongasil PHC.
Health teams have since been dispatched to provide treatment, while higher officials have been alerted to the situation.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the deaths, though no official medical confirmation has yet been issued.
Villagers are demanding urgent intervention to prevent further casualties.
