In a major boost to Odisha’s industrial growth and employment generation, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 46 medium and large industrial projects worth ₹39,383 crore across 14 districts of the state.
The projects are expected to create 42,512 direct and indirect employment opportunities.
The landmark investment initiative was launched at Kalinganagar in Jajpur district, one of Odisha’s premier industrial hubs.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister emphasised that the state’s focus extends beyond signing investment agreements to ensuring their successful implementation on the ground.
The projects span multiple sectors including steel, renewable energy, food processing, light engineering, tourism, and hospitality.
Major industrial players such as Jindal Stainless Limited, Tata Steel, Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys (IMFA), Jatya Steel Limited, BK Utkal Steel, and Shree M.K. Steel are part of the investment initiative.
The Chief Minister highlighted Odisha’s emergence as a preferred investment destination and reiterated the government’s vision of making the state a leading manufacturing hub under the ‘Purvodaya’ development framework.
He noted that Odisha continues to attract significant industrial investments and is witnessing rapid infrastructure and industrial expansion.
Districts such as Keonjhar and Sundargarh will benefit from steel and heavy manufacturing projects, while Angul and Dhenkanal are set to see increased activity in renewable energy.
Khordha will receive investments in food processing and light engineering sectors, whereas districts including Puri, Cuttack, Bargarh, Balasore and Mayurbhanj are expected to gain from tourism, hospitality and allied industrial projects.
The government is also focusing on labour-intensive sectors such as textiles, apparel, food processing and pharmaceuticals to boost local employment and curb migration.
Dedicated textile parks are being developed in several districts, while the World Skill Centre is equipping youth with industry-relevant skills in automation, renewable energy, electronics and digital technologies.
With investments exceeding ₹39,000 crore and employment opportunities for more than 42,000 people, the latest industrial package is expected to strengthen Odisha’s position as one of India’s fastest-growing manufacturing and investment destinations.
