IMD Warns of Heatwave and Humidity Across Odisha

Bhubaneswar, April 13: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh weather advisory for Odisha, warning of rising temperatures, persistent humidity, and localised thunderstorms in the coming days.

According to the forecast, coastal districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Puri, and Khordha will experience hot and humid conditions, prompting a Yellow Warning for heat stress and discomfort.

While most parts of the state are expected to witness dry weather initially, an upper air cyclonic circulation over north Odisha is likely to influence conditions.

From April 14, southern districts such as Rayagada, Ganjam, and Gajapati may see light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, western Odisha districts, including Bargarh and Bolangir, have been placed under a heatwave warning, which will later extend to Jharsuguda and Sambalpur between Day 3 and Day 5 of the forecast period.

Authorities have urged residents to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and take precautions during thunderstorms.

The IMD noted that while dry weather will return later in the week, high humidity levels will continue to affect coastal and central Odisha.
