Ganjam Tragedy: Six Dead as Bus Rams Auto Near Ladkapalli Square

Ganjam district witnessed a horrific road accident on Thursday when a speeding bus collided with an auto‑rickshaw near Ladkapalli Square under Purushottampur police limits.

The impact was so severe that six passengers died instantly, while four others sustained critical injuries and were rushed to Kodala Medical College for treatment.

Eyewitnesses reported that the bus dragged the auto for several metres before halting. In a shocking turn, the driver fled the scene with the vehicle, leaving behind chaos and grief.

Locals immediately rushed to rescue the injured and alerted authorities.

Police have launched a search operation to trace the absconding driver and are reviewing CCTV footage to determine the bus’s route.

Preliminary investigations suggest reckless driving as the primary cause of the accident.
