Fisherman’s Body Recovered from Mahanadi Near Paradip
Paradip, April 26: A tragic incident unfolded on Sunday morning when a fisherman drowned in the Mahanadi River near Paradip while pulling nets.
The victim, identified as Mahendra Sethi of Paradipgad village, was fishing with another companion near Chaumuhani when he slipped underwater and went missing.
Locals immediately raised an alarm, prompting the Kujang fire brigade to launch a search operation. After hours of effort, Mahendra’s body was recovered.
His companion managed to escape unharmed.
The incident has left the local community in grief, highlighting the risks faced by fishermen who depend on the river for their livelihood.
Authorities have urged residents to exercise caution while fishing, especially during early morning hours when visibility is low.
