Diesel Breaches ₹100 Mark in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: Fuel prices have surged yet again, pushing diesel rates past the Rs 100 mark for the first time in the city.
Diesel now costs Rs 100.81 per litre, while petrol has climbed to Rs 109.16 per litre. Speed petrol is priced at Rs 118.27 per litre.
This latest revision saw diesel increase by Rs 2.71 and petrol by Rs 2.61, marking the fourth hike in just 10 days.
Before the hike, petrol was Rs 106.33 and diesel Rs 97.92 per litre.
The impact is nationwide, with prices rising across major metros: New Delhi (Petrol Rs 102.12, Diesel Rs 95.20), Kolkata (Petrol Rs 113.51, Diesel Rs 99.82), Mumbai (Petrol Rs 111.21, Diesel Rs 97.83), and Chennai (Petrol Rs 107.77, Diesel Rs 99.55).
Experts attribute the surge to instability in the Middle East, which has driven up global crude oil prices.
The hikes are expected to increase transportation costs, raise prices of essential goods, and strain household budgets and business operations.
In response, the Odisha government has urged departments to reduce fuel consumption and gradually transition to electric vehicles.
Public concern remains high as further hikes are feared.
