Dhauli Minor Gangrape Case: Two Arrested, Odisha Govt Vows Swift Justice
Bhubaneswar, Dec 11: In a shocking incident, a minor girl was allegedly gang-raped near the Daya riverbank in Dhauli, Bhubaneswar, on December 10.
The survivor had visited Dhauli Shanti Stupa with a male friend when a group of men confronted them, demanding money.
Upon refusal, the assailants assaulted the boy and raped the girl in front of him. Disturbingly, the crime was reportedly recorded on mobile phones.
Police have arrested two accused—Bibhu Prasad Mishra of Banki and Kalandi Patra of Olatpur—while efforts are underway to nab the remaining culprits.
Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan assured that the case will be fast-tracked to ensure swift justice, emphasising the government’s zero-tolerance stance on crimes against women.
Meanwhile, the Odisha State Commission for Women has taken cognisance of the matter.
A team visited the crime scene and the police station, directing officials to prioritise medical care for the survivor and expedite the investigation.
The incident has sparked outrage across Bhubaneswar, with demands for stringent punishment of the perpetrators.
