Debashish Samantaray Joins BJP, Files Rajya Sabha Nomination
Bhubaneswar: Senior leader Debashish Samantaray has formally filed his nomination papers for the upcoming Rajya Sabha by-election in Odisha as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate.
Samantaray, who recently resigned from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and joined the BJP, submitted his nomination before the Returning Officer at the Odisha Legislative Assembly.
The filing was witnessed by Chief Minister Mohan Majhi and several senior BJP leaders, underscoring the party’s united front.
Party sources highlighted that Samantaray’s candidature reflects the BJP’s strategy to strengthen its representation in the Upper House and expand its influence in Odisha politics.
The nomination event also saw enthusiastic participation from party workers and leaders, signalling strong organisational backing.
