Cold Wave Tightens Grip on Odisha, Dense Fog Disrupts Daily Life

Odisha is reeling under an intense cold wave as temperatures continue to plummet across several districts. Dense fog has blanketed major cities and towns, severely disrupting daily life, transportation, and visibility.

According to the regional meteorological department, night temperatures have dipped below 10°C in multiple districts, with Angul, Jharsuguda, and Sundargarh among the worst affected.

Commuters faced difficulties as thick fog reduced visibility on highways, leading to traffic snarls and delayed public transport.

Flight schedules at Bhubaneswar airport were also impacted, with several departures and arrivals rescheduled.

Authorities have urged residents to take precautions against the biting cold, especially vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly. Schools in certain districts reported lower attendance due to the harsh weather.

Meanwhile, the state government has directed civic bodies to ensure adequate shelter and relief measures for the homeless.

Meteorologists predict that the cold wave conditions will persist for the next few days, with foggy mornings likely to continue.

Citizens are advised to limit early morning travel and wear protective clothing to guard against the chill.
