CM Majhi Urges Odisha to Protect Elephants on World Elephant Day
Bhubaneswar, August 12: On the occasion of World Elephant Day, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi called upon citizens to unite in conserving elephants and their habitats.
Highlighting the cultural and ecological importance of elephants in Odisha, Majhi described them as a “glorious treasure of nature” and urged collective efforts to reduce human-elephant conflict.
He emphasised their deep association with Lord Jagannath and temple traditions, underscoring elephants as symbols of biodiversity and heritage.
The Chief Minister’s appeal comes at a time when habitat loss and increasing conflict threaten elephant populations, making conservation a pressing priority for the state.
