Class 9 Girl Assaulted in Bolangir School, Six Held
Bolangir: In a shocking incident, a Class 9 girl was allegedly assaulted inside a school in Bolangir district under Turekela police limits on December 25, 2025.
The crime reportedly took place after tuition hours when five minor classmates and one youth attacked the victim.
The matter came to light after a disturbing video of the assault surfaced on social media, sparking outrage across the region.
Police swiftly arrested all six accused and seized the mobile phone used to record and circulate the video. The accused will be produced before the Juvenile Court.
Northern Range IG Himanshu Lal and Bolangir SP Abhilash G visited the site to oversee the investigation.
IG Lal highlighted the dangers of unchecked social media use among minors and urged parents and communities to raise awareness about responsible online behaviour.
The incident has triggered widespread concern over the misuse of social media platforms by children and their role in encouraging harmful acts.
Authorities have assured strict action against all those involved, while investigations continue.
