CCTV Mandatory at All Durga Puja Pandals in Bhubaneswar, Says DCP
Bhubaneswar: In a major move to strengthen security during the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations, the Commissionerate Police has made the installation of CCTV cameras mandatory at all Durga Puja pandals across Bhubaneswar.
The announcement was made by Saravana Vivek M, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), as part of a comprehensive security strategy for the festive season.
According to the DCP, all registered Durga Puja pandals in the city have been categorised into different security levels based on anticipated crowd size and vulnerability.
The categorisation is aimed at ensuring efficient deployment of police personnel and resources during the celebrations.
To enhance surveillance and crowd management, puja committees have been directed to install CCTV cameras at strategic locations within their pandals.
The live monitoring system is expected to assist law enforcement agencies in maintaining public safety and responding swiftly to any untoward incidents.
The police have also planned the deployment of plainclothes personnel across major pandals to keep a close watch on anti-social activities, theft, pickpocketing, and incidents of harassment.
Additional mobile patrol units and anti-sabotage teams will operate in sensitive areas identified based on previous security assessments.
Commissionerate Police officials have already held coordination meetings with puja organisers, urging them to cooperate with security guidelines and crowd management protocols.
Puja committees have reportedly assured full support in implementing the measures.
The enhanced security arrangements are aimed at ensuring a safe, peaceful, and hassle-free Durga Puja celebration for devotees and visitors across the Odisha capital.
