Bolangir Felicitates Golden Girl Payal Nag
Bolangir district witnessed a proud moment as para‑archer Payal Nag was felicitated at Gudighat Chhak in Muribahal block after clinching gold at the World Para Archery Series 2026 in Bangkok.
Payal defeated world number one Sheetal Devi to secure the top podium finish, bringing glory to Odisha and India.
Born to Bijaya and Janata Nag, Payal lost both arms and legs at the age of five but pursued archery with determination.
Her victory has inspired countless youth and differently‑abled children across the state.
Following her triumph, Payal continued training at the Mata Vaishnodevi Centre in Jammu and Kashmir before returning home.
The felicitation ceremony saw participation from Kantabanji MLA Laxman Bag, Muribahal Block BDO Basanti Sethi, Tahsildar Jagadish Kartami, and district sports officer Parashar Bag, alongside enthusiastic villagers.
Expressing gratitude, Payal shared her ambition to win gold at the upcoming Asian Games in September and later at the Olympics, aiming to bring further pride to her region and nation.
