BJD’s Massive Bhubaneswar Padayatra Puts Inflation Back at Centre Stage
Bhubaneswar: The opposition Naveen Patnaik-led Biju Janata Dal (BJD) organised a massive padayatra in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday, launching a sharp attack on the state government over rising inflation, governance issues, and public welfare concerns.
The large-scale rally, held in the Bhubaneswar Central Assembly constituency, witnessed the participation of party leaders, workers, and supporters.
Addressing the gathering, Naveen Patnaik, president of the BJD and former Chief Minister of Odisha, alleged that the current government has failed to address the hardships faced by common people and remains indifferent to rising prices of essential commodities.
Patnaik criticised the ruling dispensation, claiming that farmers, women, senior citizens, workers, and the middle class are bearing the brunt of inflation and economic distress.
He asserted that the government is more focused on political survival than on addressing the everyday concerns of citizens.
Highlighting youth-related issues, the BJD chief expressed concern over the future prospects of the younger generation, particularly Generation Z, and emphasised the need for policies that create opportunities and economic stability.
Calling upon party workers to strengthen grassroots engagement, Patnaik urged them to remain connected with people and continue raising issues affecting the public.
Several senior BJD leaders, including Ashok Panda, Sushant Rout, Anant Narayan Jena, and Sulochana Das, also addressed the gathering.
They accused the government of failing to control inflation and questioned its performance on key promises made to the electorate.
The padayatra is being seen as part of the BJD’s renewed outreach campaign aimed at mobilising public support and highlighting issues related to inflation, governance, and economic challenges facing the people of Odisha.
