Bhubaneswar–Cuttack–Puri–Paradip Economic Region Cleared
Bhubaneswar: The ambitious Bhubaneswar–Cuttack–Puri–Paradip City Economic Region (BKPPER) project has received approval from the State-Level Project Monitoring Committee, paving the way for a Rs 5,000 crore development plan.
Under the scheme, 70% of the funding (Rs 3,500 crore) will be sourced through Asian Development Bank loans, while the remaining 30% (Rs 1,500 crore) will come under the Central Government’s City Economic Region initiative.
The project spans 19 urban local bodies across Khordha, Cuttack, Puri, and Jagatsinghpur districts, aiming to integrate Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, and Paradip into a unified economic zone.
Key focus areas include industrial growth, port-based industries, logistics, tourism, and knowledge economy.
Plans also emphasise smart and climate-resilient urban infrastructure, multimodal transport hubs, housing for workers, riverfront development, and health and knowledge hubs.
A special highlight is the proposed Critical Mineral Processing Park at Paradip, which is expected to boost Odisha’s industrial ecosystem.
The initiative aligns with Odisha Vision 2036 and 2047, positioning the state as a hub for sustainable economic growth.
The proposal will now be uploaded to the Department of Economic Affairs portal for further evaluation and approval.
