Berhampur Police Neutralise Two Fugitives in Sudhir Patra Murder Case

Berhampur police gunned down two fugitives late Monday night in connection with the brutal murder of businessman Sudhir Kumar Patra.

The accused, identified as Ranjan Mallik of Nuagaon (Bargarh) and Saroj Panda alias Vicky of Sikiri (Hinjilicut), were intercepted near Ankashpur‑Ratnapur.

Patra had been abducted from Satyanarayanpur village, tortured on video, and killed.

His daughter, Nibedita and her partner,, Kalu, were earlier arrested for their involvement.

Investigations revealed that Ranjan and Vicky were hired contract killers tasked with eliminating Patra.

During the encounter, both sustained injuries and were admitted to MKCG Medical College under tight security.

Police had previously neutralised three other criminals linked to the case—Mukesh Sahu, Dipuna Nayak, and Jagannath Sahu.

With these arrests, authorities believe the contract killer network responsible for Patra’s murder has been dismantled, marking a significant breakthrough in the case.
