Bargarh DEO, BEO Arrested After Harassment Charges

The School and Mass Education Department has suspended Bargarh District Education Officer (DEO) Jyotikant Sahu and Block Education Officer (BEO) Surendra Sahoo following allegations of sexual harassment.

Both officials, along with PET teacher Sameer Panigrahi of Satlama High School, were accused of sending obscene messages and harassing a woman, Cluster Resource Centre Coordinator (CRCC).

Police have registered a case against the trio, and all three have been arrested.

While Panigrahi had already been suspended earlier, the latest action extends accountability to senior officials.

The department emphasised that strict measures will be taken to ensure a safe and respectful environment within the education system.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have assured that further disciplinary action will follow based on the findings.
