Baleswar Mines Department Cracks Down on Illegal Transport
Baleswar: In a major operation against illegal transportation of construction materials, the Baleswar Mines Department seized 11 trucks and 4 tractors during raids in Jaleswar.
The raids, conducted under bridges and along National Highway 16, targeted vehicles carrying sand, soil, and morrum.
District Mines Officer Jagan Behera and Rohit Samal led the operation, supported by five junior officers divided into two teams.
Key seizures included three sand‑laden tractors under a bridge, and eight morrum‑laden trucks along with three sand‑laden tractors from NH‑16.
All seized vehicles have been moved to a stockyard near Lakshmannath Road Court.
Officials stated that the crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal mining and ensure compliance with environmental and transport regulations.
